Today is International Literacy Day. Some 775 million adults lack minimum literacy skills; one in five adults are still not literate and two-thirds are women. 60.7 million children are out of school and many more attend irregularly or drop out. There is a direct connection between illiteracy and countries in severe poverty, and between illiteracy and prejudice against women.

Give Children A Choice targets the youngest children, both boys and girls; building preschools, igniting the fire to learn at an early age. Education is a significant key to poverty reduction. The list of villages requesting preschools is long and the funds to build them are short.

Help us change the illiteracy statistics, help us ignite the fire in the youngest children in Laos.
