The vitamins have finally arrived in Laos. This is the third grant we have received from California based Vitamin Angels and our third distribution of vitamins in Xieng Khouang Province. The process is long to get the vitamins from the US to Laos. It was one year ago today that we completed and submitted the grant extension request. Once the vitamins are secured by Vitamin Angels we have to go through the process of approvals in Laos, this process took about 6 months to complete. The vitamins are shipped by vessel from the US to Vietnam and then are trucked from the port in Vietnam into Laos at the Namkan International Border in Xieng Khouang Province.

The vitamins are distributed to District Hospitals and Health Centers in Xieng Khouang Province. We received children’s multivitamins as well as multivitamins for pregnant and lactating mothers. Our previous vitamin distributions have proven that the vitamins are making a difference.

The vitamins came quickly after the final customs approval and Barbara and Dori Shimoda departed for Xieng Khouang Province and then on to the border to receive the vitamins and get them where they needed to go. Night time delivery is a first!

Thank you Dori and Barbara for being there!
