What’s the good news? Signed an MOU to build a model preschool in Na Oh Village (near Plain of Jars site one) earlier this week. Thank you donor Michael and Denise McCarthy. Thank you partner Hopeful Encounter. School grounds have been cleared of UXO. (Two bombs were found and removed ). Thank you UXO LAO. So… Let the building begin.
Had lunch with the Na Oh village leaders. Visited our new Na Oh preschool site. Villagers already cleared the land. UXO Lao came to survey the school grounds for bombs. Learned they detonated six live bombs, not two as previously thought, earlier this month. Two bombies (Blu-26s) and four mortar rockets. (The dirt piles in the picture are adjacent to holes where metal was detected by UXO Lao’s women’s ordnance removal team. Each metal item is carefully examined to determine if they are shrapnel, spent shells, etc. and live bombs.) Very good news. Great job done. Safe environment for learning.
