Dori Shimoda has passions and aspirations of giving back: to provide choices to those having little choice and hope to those who think hope is elusive. Recently retired from NYCE Payments Network where he was a Senior Vice President Dori is on the board of the University of San Francisco, Center for the Pacific Rim. Previously, his business career focused on strategic business development at JP Morgan Chase and Citibank in the United States and internationally. Dori's knowledge and experience with numerous business startups have enabled Give Children A Choice's stellar progress to date. His aspirations for Give Children A Choice are to lead the organization in helping children with the greatest educational needs worldwide and on establishing a best practices model in preschool construction and development.

Country Director - Laos Healthcare Projects Director Barbara Shimoda is a registered nurse and CEO of Timeless Image Enterprises, a laser aesthetics clinic located in the heart of SOHO in New York City. There, she applies her skills and artistry to improve her clients' appearance and, more important, self-esteem. She is sought after worldwide for her services. Barbara's other life long passion is helping children. In working with her husband Dori at Give Children A Choice, she has come to share his love of helping disadvantaged children. Give Children A Choice has given Barbara the opportunity to combine her love for children and her nursing skills to improve the lives of the children Give Children A Choice touches. Under her leadership, Give Children A Choice is improving the health for all the children who attend Give Children A Choice's preschools and their siblings through her health, nutrition, hygiene and immunization programs. |

Debbie Davis Debbie Davis is dedicated to a broad range of volunteer and fund raising programs in her community and beyond, many of which focus on children. She has extended those desires to help children in need with Give Children A Choice. Debbie has a strong business background which has focused on administration and accounting and she oversees the day-to-day business operations of Give Children A Choice. Debbie was instrumental in the initial organization of Give Children A Choice as a 501c3 organization in 2002. Debbie has recently left the corporate world and works fulltime for Give Children A Choice. |

Thongchanh Vilayvong Preschool Construction Coordinator Dori met Thongchanh by chance in a Luang Prabang restaurant on his first trip there in 1999. Thongchanh wanted to improve his English and Dori wanted to build a school. Over the years Thongchanh has become invaluable in our preschool construction process. On behalf of Give Children A Choice, Thongchanh has worked very closely with the Luang Prabang and Xieng Khouang Provincial Education Departments, village leaders, suppliers and our partners in Laos to build each one of our preschools. Thongchanh understands the importance of education, he has recently completed his college degree in Business. His aspirations are to one day see his country improve its educational opportunities for all children. |
