Phosy Village has a primary and secondary school. The Phosy Village preschool will enroll children 3, 4 and 5 years old. Approximately 55 children were eligible to enroll. Our experience shows that children love preschool and enrollment turnout will be high.
We are building a two-room preschool in Phosy Village, located 30 km from Phonsavan. During the Secret War in the 1960’s, the villagers left Phosy Village. They reestablished and resettled in Phosy Village 34 years ago in 1975. The village has 152 families, 604 people. Average income per family is $475, derived primarily from farming. The village has electricity and water sources available.
Mr. Somchai, head of the Xieng Khouang Provincial Education Department noted that improving basic education quality is a key provincial initiative. He reinforced that preschool is part of the basic education mandate. He shared that Give Children A Choice is the first NGO to support preschool programs in his province. He thanked its principals and supporters interested in helping “our Province and our children.”
