Nong Hed Tai Village is a Hmong village located approximately 120 km from Phonsavan in Xieng Khouang Province. The majority of the villagers settled here after leaving nearby Kengkhouay Village in 1973.

This area was heavily bombed during the Secret War. During the UXO (unexploded ordnance) clearance operation prior to building the preschool a UXO was located on the school grounds and removed. There hasn’t been a UXO incident here since 1990.

The villagers make their living as farmers, they grow rice, corn and peanuts. Many of the villagers also raise buffalo, pigs and chickens. Village families live on less than $2.00 a day.

Nong Hed Tai did not have a preschool or preschool program until Give Children A Choice’s generous supporters provided them one.
