On September 14, 2015 Give Children A Choice hosted a large group from Luxottica Tristar (Dongguan) Optical Co., Ltd. Approximately 90 leaders from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, China and Italy, spent part of their day with students at Chomphet Lower Secondary School.
The group gathered in the auditorium (old chapel building) at the school before breaking into teams to spend time with the students.
The smaller groups did some team building exercises with the students to promote awareness of and educate them about issues that face all young people; drugs, alcohol, the importance of education, keeping the environment clean and the importance of family and community. The teams worked together to create posters about these issues. It was fascinating watching the spirited and serious discussions on these topics considering the language barriers, the engagement within the groups was energetic.
Luxottica generously donated 16,200,000 LAK ($2,000.00) to Give Children A Choice to make improvements to the building that was placed on the school grounds last year. Click here to see our previous project at the school.
The group saved the best for last. Huge donations of clothing; including coats, jackets, pants, shoes, sandals, underwear plus school supplies were generously donated to the Chomphet students plus our other young students in Xieng Khouang Province.
